About Lampstand Church

Who we are

Lampstand Church began in 2016 with twelve people praying in a living room in West Salem. Today we are a family of about 400 people from every background, meeting in a renovated warehouse on the east side of town. We are a Foursquare church, part of a worldwide movement of Spirit-filled churches that began in Los Angeles in 1923.

Our name comes from the book of Revelation, where Jesus describes His churches as lampstands: places that carry His light. We want Lampstand to be exactly that for Salem.

The Foursquare gospel

At the heart of what we believe are four simple truths about Jesus:

• Jesus saves. Everyone who turns from sin and trusts in Jesus is forgiven and given new life (John 3:16).
• Jesus baptizes with the Holy Spirit. He fills believers with the Spirit’s power to live for Him and to tell others about Him (Acts 1:8).
• Jesus heals. He still heals bodies, minds and hearts today, and we pray for healing with faith and expectation (James 5:14-15).
• Jesus is coming again. He will return as King, and we live with hope and urgency until He does (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17).

What else we believe

• The Bible is the inspired Word of God, true and trustworthy in everything it teaches.
• There is one God, eternally existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
• Salvation is a gift of God’s grace, received by faith in Jesus Christ alone.
• Water baptism by immersion is a public step of faith, and we share communion together regularly.
• The gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today, given to build up the church and serve the world.

What to expect on a Sunday

Our gatherings at 9:00 and 11:00 AM last about 75 minutes. Expect a full band, songs that are easy to join in, and room to respond in worship however is natural to you: standing, sitting, lifting your hands or simply listening. Then one of our pastors brings a practical message from the Bible.

After the message, our prayer team is at the front for anyone who would like prayer. Lampstand Kids meets during both gatherings for newborns through fifth grade, with secure check-in at the kids’ entrance.

Coffee is free, and the lobby opens 30 minutes before each gathering.
